Shrine Volunteer Plans “Bike to Mary”

Chris PundzakChris Pundzak is a volunteer at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe as an IT Technical Support Engineer.  Chris also has cerebral palsy.  In spite of his disability, he is preparing for a state-wide bike pilgrimage, so he can prove to himself  — and to show others like him — what he is capable of doing.

This is a bike pilgrimage to support the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  This idea came on me when I got my new bike in March of 2013.  I always wanted to do a bike ride for a great cause.  Yes, they are many causes to support, but this one is special all in itself.  Each day is a life-changing day when the Shrine opens her doors to pilgrims.   Some we may know and some we may have just met.  Each one of us is called to do wonderful things in our life.  What we do with our talents is up to us.

The bike pilgrimage will take place during the week of June 18th to the 21st covering 195 miles.  Chris plans to stay over a couple nights at rectories.

During a week, Chris tries to put on about 14 miles each day in good weather.  During the weekends he can cover anywhere from 40 to 60 miles.
