Meditation Trail

The Meditation Trail is a majestic half-mile long slightly inclined paved pathway that begins at the Pilgrim Center and ends at the Shrine Church.  The trail was designed to assist pilgrims in withdrawing from the world and entering into a prayerful state of mind before arriving at the Shrine Church.  Pilgrims are especially encouraged to meditate on the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary while walking.  Additionally, pilgrims often enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of nature; including many beautiful birds, deer, the fragrance of mature pine trees, and the sound of the rustling creek below.

The trail is approximately half a mile long with benches along the way.  For most pilgrims it is a 10-15 minute walk, however, golf cart shuttle rides are always available for all pilgrims upon request at the Pilgrim Center welcome desk.  The Meditation Trail is cleared of snow and open year-round.  Along the Meditation Trail pilgrims will find devotional areas to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha and Saint Joseph the Workman

On various Feast Days and pilgrimages, the Meditation Trail is also used for large processions.

Please note that pets are not permitted on any part of the Sacred Shrine grounds including the Meditation Trail. For your safety and the beauty of the grounds, please do not stray from the paved pathway.
