Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

On February 2nd the Church celebrates the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple.

It is also World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life.

Holy Mass will begin in the Narthex with the blessing and lighting of candles, followed by a Procession into the Church!

This year it is also First Saturday!

A day rich in graces!

How beautiful is the symbolism of light!, that great symbol of Christ and the divine life of Christ in us!

We each receive a blessed candle from the hand of the Church. We go forth bearing the burning light which signifies Christian life and our task as Christ bearers.

The Church blesses candles to be used in her liturgy and in the homes of the faithful.

We should take these candles home, that “wherever they are lighted or placed, the princes of darkness may depart in trembling…, and flee in fear, …, and never more dare to disturb or molest those who serve You.

Light the blessed candle during family prayer, during storms, in times of trial, and especially when the sick receive Communion or the last sacraments are administered.
