The Juan Bernardino Fellows
Following the death of his wife, Maria Lucia, Saint Juan Diego moved to Tolpetlac to live with his uncle, Juan Bernardino. At the time of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego, Juan Bernardino became severely ill. Saint Juan Diego tended to the health of his uncle, but when it became apparent that his uncle was dying, Saint Juan Diego set out to find a priest to hear his uncle’s Confession and administer last rites. While Saint Juan Diego was gone, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Bernardino. Through the intercession of Our Lady, he was cured of his illness.
