Click here to submit an Answered Prayer Last year, a good friend and student at an orthodox Catholic College called to encourage my youngest boy (still in high school) to attend a week long program at the college. My boy was initially interested, but was quickly dissuaded by his mother who divorced me some years earlier and was desperately trying to frustrate any and all Catholic moral and intellectual formation I sought to influence him with. Weary of my ongoing losing streak over his soul, I hammered heaven with a barage of novenas to Sts. Benedict, Anthony of Padua, Joseph, Padre Pio, Jude and Our Lady of Guadalupe (not to mention the Rosary)! After weeks of what seemed like an agonizing strategy of emotional chess, he reluctantly agreed to go, one day before his plane left. I asked Our Lady that it would be a positive experience for him, that it would strengthen his Faith and that he would be flooded with an outstanding community of new Catholic friends. All that I asked came true! He now has Catholic friends, a new interest in the Catholic intellectual tradition and a Grace-filled memory to guide him out of the spiritual cess-pool he has been forced to swim in! My daughter and I visited the shrine August 2007 to pray that my husband's and my adoption of Julian, a baby boy from Guatemala be completed. The adoption was stuck in bureaucracy. In September, my daughter dreamed that Our Lady of Guadalupe was holding Julian like baby Jesus and was handing him to her. Since September, my daughter kept telling me that we would get Julian on the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Indeed, on December 10, 2007, Julian legally became our child. On December 12, 2007, his birth certificate was changed to add us as the adoptive parents and his passport was created that day as well! Over the past 7 years I have miscarried 7 babies, so my dream of becoming a mother to another child was realized. As a single mother, I have prayed for wisdom and direction to find a more flexible work schedule, and the Lord is guiding me to my dream. Oh my dearest Mother, I love you with all my heart, I admire you so much, and I thank-you for helping me to sin no more...the same sin that I've committed over and over again. Today, I am confidenced that I will not sin that same sin again. Each day, that I don't sin, I feel a sense of great joy and FREEDOM! It is the most wonderful feeling I feel each day - to be able to have inner-peace and joy knowing that I am closer to God and to you my Mother. All the problems, or obstacles I may encounter from day-to-day bases become so minute, when I have You beside me to guide me, protect me, and help me in every step I take, every word I speak, every thing I do. Shortly after a very dear friend travelled to Mexico to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe, and posted a prayer of mine and of others. I believe my prayer was answered as I concieved in September and our beautiful and healthy baby girl was born in June this year(2006). Our school desperately needed more students to remain open for the 2007 school year. After Mass, the Priest welcomed all of us to come to the altar and put our hand on the painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe and say a prayer. My prayer was to have another chance to be a mother. To be more like Mary. I've had fertility problems for the past 9 years and being Catholic, my husband and I do not use any form of contraception. I figured I was just not meant to have anymore children. On April 1st, 2006 I found out that I was indeed pregnant. My due date is December 9th. The very same day that Juan Diego discovered Our Lady on the hill. What amazing things Our Mother can do for us! I have such gratitude in my heart. Some people there have told me that, since the musical Call of Guadalupe was on in their area in mid October 2005, rain has poured and poured and they asked me to tell you that they have had enough rain, and they really are grateful for that. I guess I will never know how much that means for them...many of them could not afford to see the play because of the draught...and we lost a lot of money...but the rain really justified everything. I was quite scared when I heard the promise in my heart, what if it was wrong? It could just be that I made it up myself, especially that I have never seen you face to face, I prayed so hard that you will keep the promise. Now I know even if the promise was not from you, you have just saved my face since I told them about the promise not knowing what will happen. What kept me going was that I know you care for all your children and know what's best for them. I ask for your permission for all your children to read this letter so that we all may believe in you and your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. David Lemewu, Friends of Call of Guadalupe, Australia Posted By: David in Northcote Victoria, Australia Earlier today I placed our pro-life organization under the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Requesting her intercession for all our needs and the blessing of our mission. I had been working on a talk for Respect Life Sunday this weekend, but found it difficult to focus, being concerned about meeting payroll and rent on Monday Oct. 3rd. After I submitted my prayer request to have our organization under the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe, unknown to me the Chairman of our board after exhausting a number of possiblities made a call to a major donor who had been repeatedly generous. Our chairman didn't think this gentlemen would give again so soon. Yet, he readily responded with a gift more generous than normal! I received a call immediately from our chairman who had just gotten off the phone with him - praise God. His call took place only a few minutes after I had placed our organization under Our Lady's protection via a prayer request to this shrine.
