Left:  Trial run of the exterior lighting of the dome.

Below:  Priests' Sacristy plaster columns and ceiling vaults in place.

Right:  Limestone cross is mounted to peak of the Church facade.

Below Right:  Workers form the ceiling in the Transept area and apply sheet rock in preparation for plastering.  This work is at least 8 flights of scaffolding stairs up in the air.  Please continue to pray for their safety.

Scaffolding has been removed from the dome and bell tower.  First layer of roof is almost complete.  The detail is breathtaking!

Work on the copper dome continues - hopeful of an early
January completion.

The bell tower roof is installed with the help of the large crane.

 

 

South side of the Church continues to show the progress of the construction challenges.

    Masonry continues on the side of the church.  Also the bell tower continues to grow and now rises well above the treetops when viewing it from the highway.

 

July 16, 2005
Masonry continues - both with fieldstone and large limestone blocks.  The interior basement floor has been poured and work has begun again on the dome.  The bell tower blocks now rise above the front peak of the Church.

Masonry begins on the exterior fieldstone on the Shrine Church.

Preparing for Corner Stone Laying.  The Steel for the dome is now up as well as a good portion of the block.

Blocking continues and windows start to take shape.  The scaffolding in the background is in preparation for the construction of the Church dome.

February 25, 2005

Steel frame for the main aisle of the Church quickly goes into place and the immensity of the project dawns on everyone.

February 22, 2005: 

  The first steel girder is placed on the newly poured first floor of the Shrine Church.

 

 

February 14, 2005:  The first floor of the Shrine Church is poured.

 This milestone in the construction project was marked by the pouring of approximately 320 yards of concrete and a crew of over 15 dedicated individuals.  The weather was favorable and in just under six (6) hours, we had a floor!
