Pilgrims arriving at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe approach the main entrance to the PILGRIM CENTER by walking under an archway with a mission bell – a bell that calls all to come and experience the prayerful surroundings. They pass through a plaza which prominently displays a bronze statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe sculptured by Enrique Miguel de la Vega - a favorite place for group pictures.

As the Pilgrims enter the Pilgrim Center and close the huge wooden doors behind them, they begin to find themselves in a more prayerful atmosphere - they have left the noise of the world outside.  Here they encounter the hospitality that is part of the Shrine tradition.

There is a reception area where information on the Shrine can be obtained. The lobby of the Pilgrim Center also provides displays which assist the Pilgrim in learning more about the Shrine.

An orientation video is available and can be a very effective way to gain an understanding of the events that led up to the creation of this Shrine and the planned construction as the Shrine continues its development.

Culina Mariana, the Shrine restaurant, provides a tempting respite and place to meet before or after the journey to the top of the bluff.  Click here for more information.

Flores Mariae, the Shrine's religious gift shop, is quickly becoming the premiere religious gift shop for the surrounding areas.  New items arrive weekly.  Books, videos, statues, medals, paintings and more. Gift Certificates and Gift Cards are available.  Visit our On-Line Store!

For those who welcome sacred art as a means of meditation, there is the Orientation Room - known currently as the Temporary Chapel.  Once inside, Pilgrims are treated to a huge icon screen known as a Reredos where there are fifteen individually written icons by the Institute of St. Joseph - depicting many Saints and Blesseds that Pilgrims will one day meet again on the Shrine grounds.  Original oil paintings by Guadalupita Ortiz adorn the wall and become welcome educational tools for the telling of the story of the apparitions - especially to young children.

Pilgrims needing special assistance are asked to make such a request at the main information desk in the Pilgrim Center lobby or at the Gift Shop.   Wheel chairs available upon request.

When he (Juan Diego) arrived in front of her, he greatly admired in what manner, above all comprehension, Her perfect beauty was expressed.
