Devotional Areas
About the Shrine

Located throughout the grounds are specially designated devotional areas where pilgrims may offer private prayers for special intentions. Of special interest and importance is the first place of rest as pilgrims walk to the Shrine church. It is: 

Our Mother of Good Counsel Votive Candle Chapel

This chapel of perpetual light is a constant sign of prayer offered by those who choose to light a candle as a long-lasting memorial for special intentions. Candles can be reserved for special intentions on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual basis. From the distance, the intense glow of almost 600 candles beckons a warm welcome to the shrine grounds. Stained glass windows honoring Our Blessed Mother under her titles of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Loretto, Our Lady of Knock, Our Mother of Good Counsel, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal provide opportunities for pilgrims to pray for their own special intentions.  Click here for more information

Outdoor Grottos

The walk to the church also will provide the opportunity for pilgrims to stop at special grottos to the following:

• Saint Joseph the Workman, Patron of the Diocese of La Crosse
   
• Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, Patroness of Native American Catholics
